As I mentioned in the previous post – we were treated to lunch in Falmouth by Barbara & Rob. We walked from their (very beautiful) house down to Gylly Beach Cafe which is in the most stunning surroundings. Built out over Gyllyngvase Beach the cafe has a wrap around deck area with plenty of seating from which to enjoy the view. Despite being a Friday in September, there was plenty going on for us to watch; paddle-boarders, sailing, swimmers and kids on body boards.
We got ourselves seated right on the beach front and ordered our food. I had the Gylly burger, Mark had “Catch of the Day” (which was Whiting), Barbara opted for the Pulled Pork Nachos and Rob had coffee & cake as he wasn’t that hungry. My burger was huge! A big, fat juicy burger with bacon & cheese. I had to eat it with a knife and fork because it was so tall! I left the bun but the chips were good and the salad nicely dressed. Mark’s fish was amazing and beautifully fresh. Barbara’s nachos looked good but would have been a bit hot for me with all the jalapenos that were in it…! Rob’s flapjack was gigantic but disappeared relatively quickly so must have been good.
It was a really pleasant lunch and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back again. I reckon we might have to try again and book a week in Falmouth at some point as there were some great looking places to eat and lots of good walks for the dogs. Watch this space..
